The 147th edition of the Open championship is taking place at Carnoustie. The first senior Open tournament took place here in 2010 in which German's Bernhard Langer was victorious. The course is notoriously difficult and regarded by many as not only the hardest of the open venues but one of the toughest courses in the world. With this being the case it sets up for an extremely competitive tournament ahead. Johnson has been in imperious form in recent years firmly establishing himself as the leading player on the tour. There is no doubt that if he brings his best he will take all the beating. Another key challenger for the title will be the defending champion Jordan Spieth who will be looking to challenge in a major again following his disappointing display in the recent U.S Open in which he failed to make the cut.
