Andy Murray despatches Anderson to reach last eight

Andy Murray continued his flawless Wimbledon with a straight sets win over Kevin Anderson to reach the quarter-finals.

The defending champion beat 20th seed Kevin Anderson 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 and is still to drop a set, while has now won 17 consecutive matches at the All England Club - a run stretching back to the London 2012 Olympics.

The number three seed started well but when rain forced a brief delay while the roof was closed, Anderson got himself back into the game and gave the home hope more of a match.

The South African had hit 63 aces in his first three matches but Murray is one of the sport's best returners - and he duly took advantage of his rival's biggest weapon.

Murray will next take on either Gregor Dimitrov, the recent winner at Queen's Club, or Leonardo Mayer in the quarter-finals.

"When the match was outdoors I played well but when the roof came on he started playing much better and I was more tentative and he was making it very tough for me," said Murray

"I don't know who is next yet. Anyone who plays in the quarter-final of a Slam is playing top tennis but if I play well I'll make it very tough for them.

"I'm not worrying about anything else, I'm just trying to concentrate on the tennis but when you play in front of a crowd like that it's hard not to raise your intensity.

"It's good to get off in straight sets and now I can rest up and get ready for whoever I face next."
