Robben secures late Bayern win

Bayern Munich needed a last-gasp goal from Arjen Robben to see them to a 2-1 win against second division hosts Bochum and a place in the quarter-finals of the German Cup.

Giovanni Federico put Bochum ahead in the first half at the Ruhrstadion, but Toni Kroos levelled early in the second half. However, their passage to the last eight was sealed with the last kick of the game as Robben prevented the tie from going into extra time.

Greuther Furth knocked their more illustrious neighbours Nurnberg out with a 1-0 win at the Frankenstadion.

The second division side, who have been on the brink of promotion to the top flight year-on-year for nearly a decade, went through thanks to Edgar Prib's goal in the 15th minute.

The lesser-known side from just outside Nurnberg managed to hold on to their win despite playing the last 25 minutes with 10 men after Bernd Nehrig was sent off.

Extra time and penalties were needed to find a winner between second division leaders Fortuna Dusseldorf and defending Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund, who failed to find a goal between them over 120 minutes.

Controversy surrounded the shootout with two penalties retaken, one for Dusseldorf after originally being missed by Andreas Lambertz, who then took his second chance to score. But Thoms Broker missed his side's next penalty, with Dortmund netting all five of their kicks to win 5-4.

Hoffenheim saw off Bundesliga rivals Augsburg 2-1 in front of just over 10,000 fans at the Rhein-Neckar Arena - a record low crowd for the stadium in Sinsheim.

Sejad Salihovic and Vedad Ibisevic were on target for the home side with Torsten Oehrl grabbing Augsburg's consolation.
