Chelsea sign Fabregas
Chelsea have announced the signing of Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona on a five-year contract.
Fabregas, 27, returned to his boyhood club Barcelona from Arsenal in 2011, and went on to lift the Copa del Rey in 2012 and then the Liga title a year later.
In the 2013-14 season, however, there was increasing speculation about his future at the Camp Nou, and Chelsea, as well as his former side Arsenal, were linked with a move for his signature.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho recently admitted to his interest in the Spain international, who is currently at the 2014 World Cup, and on Thursday the transfer was confirmed.
Fabregas told Chelsea's official website: "Firstly I would like to thank everyone at FC Barcelona where I enjoyed three wonderful years. It was my childhood club and I will always be proud and honoured that I had a chance to play for such a great team.
"I do feel that I have unfinished business in the Premier League and now is the right time to return.
"I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice. They match my footballing ambitions with their hunger and desire to win trophies.
"They have an amazing squad of players and an incredible manager. I am fully committed to this team and I can't wait to start playing."
