Palermo fight back |
|
Palermo goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu was the hero with several fine saves in a pulsating second half as his side came from behind to beat Parma in Serie A.
The visitors led through Alessandro Lucarelli but Palermo took the points with goals after the break from Mauricio Pinilla, Fabrizio Miccoli and a late own goal by Christian Zaccardo.
Parma led after seven minutes when Lucarelli was left unmarked in the Palermo penalty box and fired home a low shot.
Parma went close to extending their lead but Sirigu made fine saves from Antonio Candreva and Sebastian Giovinco.
The visitors threatened again from Cesare Bovo's cross but Nicola Rigoni headed wide from close range.
The first chance to Palermo was set up by Javier Pastore but Federico Balzaretti shot wide.
Pastore also set up Miccoli but his half-volley from the edge of the area was over the bar.
Hernan Crespo fed Mariano de Almeida Angelo but his shot skimmed the right-hand upright.
In the last meaningful action of the first half Pastore shot over from 20 yards out.
Substitute Pinilla equalised six minutes into the second half when he followed up after Antonio Mirante had kept out Antonio Nocerino's effort.
Pinilla shot over the bar before setting up Miccoli who netted from the edge of the box.
Miccoli could have extended the home side's lead but shot weakly and Mirante was able to save easily.
Aden Ilicic the hit the bar after being set up by Miccoli as Parma came under increased pressure.
Sirigu then twice came to his side's rescue as he saved from Crespo from close range and then from Candreva who shot from distance.
Mirante saved superbly from Pajtim Kasami's curling shot and Giovinco fired wide before Zaccardo unfortunately got the decisive touch.
Ilicic crossed for Kasami and his close-range header hit Zaccardo before the ball crossed the line.
