Juventus win 3 - 1 against Cesena |
 |
Alessandro del Piero was on target again as Juventus came from behind to beat Cesena and register back-to-back league wins.
The veteran striker, who last weekend became the club's all-time record scorer in Serie A, cancelled out Luis Jimenez's opener for struggling Cesena, who then had Maximiliano Pellegrino sent off.
That paved the way for the home side to take control, with Fabio Quagliarella putting them ahead just before the break and Vincenzo Iaquinta wrapping things up late on.
Lowly Cesena, who this week gave a vote of confidence to manager Massimo Ficcadenti, started well and took the lead after 10 minutes, with Jimenez slotting into an open goal after Emanuele Giaccherini's cross was deflected into his path by Ezequiel Schelotto.
Alberto Aquilani came close to pulling the home side level with a strike from distance, before the evergreen del Piero did equalise when he converted from the spot (30) after Pellegrino had brought down Lorenzo Bonucci.
Pellegrino was soon making his way off the field when he fouled Simone Pepe, and Quagliarella's 43rd-minute header from Claudio Marchisio's cross made his absence all the more telling as the home side went into the dressing rooms in the lead.
Juventus piled on the pressure in the second half and Iaquinta twice took aim, with one hit sailing wide and another being saved by Francesco Antonioli, before the striker finally got his goal when he netted from close range after a Hasan Salihamidzic cross three minutes from time.
