Bologna leave it late
Bologna left it late to take all three points from their Serie A encounter with Lecce at the Stadio Dall'Ara and move out of the relegation zone.

Marco Di Vaio put the home side ahead in the 84th minute with Henry Gimenez wrapping up the win a minute later.

Lecce spent the first half defending, but were unfortunate to be beaten after a more positive second 45 minutes.

When Riccardo Meggiorini tested Andrea Rosati with a shot from a tight angle in the fifth minute, it looked like it was going to be an open game, but the chance was misleading.

The home side had to wait more than half an hour for their next sniff of goal with Di Vaio's header from close to the penalty spot just missing the right-hand post.

Di Vaio had another half-chance to score 60 seconds later when he poked the ball wide of the far post, but there was little to write home about from a dull first half in which Lecce played their part purely by setting their stall out to defend.

Fortunately, it was a different story in the second half with Lecce coming out with a more positive attitude.

Gianni Munari had their first chance of the game in the 47th minute with a header which Emiliano Viviano saved magnificently with his outstretched arm.

David Di Michele had provided the cross and he was the dangerman as the visitors enjoyed a bright spell.

After controlling the first half, Bologna seemed rather shocked as it was their turn to defend and try to take the sting out of their opponents.

As the game began to stagnate again, Bologna struck to take the lead in the 84th minute.

Di Vaio showed his goal-poaching skills to net his 119th Serie A goal, his 42nd for Bologna and his sixth of the season by pouncing inside the penalty area to head Miguel Britos' cross in.

Lecce were deflated and the second goal within a minute put pay to their hopes of scrambling an equaliser.

Di Vaio was the provider this time as his low cross was met at point-blank range by Gimenez.
