Brescia made heavy work of overcoming Serie B's bottom side Cittadella 1-0, with Alessandro Diamanti scoring the decisive goal after 31 minutes.
It was a far easier night for Cagliari who beat Piacenza 3-0 thanks to Anderson Miguel Nene scoring a double before Robert Acquafresca added a third.
Udinese progressed to the fourth round of the Coppa Italia with a 4-0 victory over Padova on Wednesday evening.
Former Manchester City striker Bernardo Corradi scored twice, with Antonio Floro Flores and Gabriele Angella also netting for the mid-table Serie A side. Udinese will now face the winners of the tie between Lecce and Siena on Wednesday night.
Serie B title contenders Reggina needed extra-time to defeat Frosinone 4-2 away from home. Ghana striker Dominic Adiyiah, on loan from AC Milan, scored the final goal in the dying seconds and Reggina will now face Fiorentina in the fourth round.
