Ibrahimovic strikes again for Milan
A goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic early in the second half was enough to earn AC Milan all three points against Genoa.

The Swedish striker struck in the 49th minute to decide a tight Serie A encounter at the San Siro.

Genoa hit the post in the first half and can consider themselves unfortunate to lose to a goal which was the result of a defensive error, but they remain with just five points from five games while the Rossoneri move up to fourth with eight points.

Milan started for the first time this season with their new three-pronged attack of Ronaldinho, Robinho and Ibrahimovic.

The first chance of the game fell to Robinho in the 19th minute when he broke the offside trap but shot straight at Eduardo from a difficult angle.

Gennaro Gattuso did the same in the 27th minute as he failed to score his first goal since January 2008 with a shot straight at the Genoa goalkeeper.

Genoa came close to breaking the deadlock in the 39th minute when Rodrigo Palacio took the ball to the goalline and lifted it towards the far post.

Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati got his hand to the ball but only managed to push it towards his own goal and he was fortunate to see it bounce out to safety off the inside of the post.

An error at the other end of the field by Chico let Kevin-Prince Boateng in, but the player who is on loan at Milan from Genoa failed to beat Eduardo from close range.

Abbiati then made a stunning save to deny Chico from six yards on the stroke of half-time.

Milan went ahead in the 49th minute with a goal out of nothing.

Andrea Pirlo lifted the ball forward hopefully and Ibrahimovic stuck out a leg between Dario Dainelli and Andrea Ranocchia to lift the ball over Eduardo, who had drifted a little too far off his line and could only palm the ball into the back of his own net as he tracked back.

Genoa searched for an equaliser but Luca Toni's header lacked power and direction as Abbiati made an easy save in the 56th minute.

While the Rossoblu looked for a way back into the game, they left gaps at the back which Milan looked to exploit.

Clarence Seedorf shot at Eduardo and Robinho's follow-up was cleared just in front of the line by Domenico Criscito in the 81st minute before Matthieu Flamini blazed his shot over the crossbar from 10 yards.
