| Domenech settles on his 23 |
France coach Raymond Domenech has no plans to call up another player in place of Lassana Diarra, who has been ruled out of the World Cup finals with a stomach complaint.
Domenech had already cut his initial squad down to 24 as he awaited news of William Gallas' fitness for the finals. But with Diarra now dropping out he has chosen to take the remaining 23 to South Africa rather than call up a replacement midfielder.
"We know that the final list is due on June 1, but for us, all 23 are here," Domenech revealed. "These are the 23 we are going to take with us.
"Lassana Diarra's problem was as much a heartbreaker, as it was a form of liberation. Indirectly, his departure has avoided having to tell a player he would have to go home.
"When you're 24, it is difficult to make that final decision."
