Goals from Maxime Gonalons and Bafetimbi Gomis earned Lyon a victory at Dijon which took them to the top of the Ligue 1 standings.

Benjamin Corgnet had given the top-flight newcomers hope of getting a result with his equaliser on the stroke of half-time, but their inexperience told in the end.

The result means Lyon remain unbeaten in the league this season.

Les Gones enjoyed a lively start with Kim Kallstrom testing the skills of home goalkeeper Baptiste Reynet with his powerful 20-yard strike after just three minutes.

And they were in front four minutes later partly thanks to Kallstrom, whose free-kick into the area was headed home by Gonalons.

Lyon gave Dijon another scare after nine minutes when Gomis' ball into the area left Michel Bastos one-on-one with Reynet, but the winger put his attempted lob wide much to the frustration of coach Remi Garde.

Dijon posed few problems for the visitors as the half progressed, but they pulled an equaliser out of nowhere before the interval. Brice Jovial ran onto a pass from Younousse Sankhare before flicking the ball to Corgnet, who surprised Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris with his first-time shot.

Lyon quickly reasserted their authority, though, and were back in front after 53 minutes. Bastos whipped in a cross which was powered beyond Reynet by the head of Gomis.

They then pressed for a third but Dejan Lovren volleyed wide before Kallstrom once more saw a strike kept out by Reynet.

And they were almost hit by another equaliser in the dying seconds, with Lloris making a fine reflex save to keep out a shot from Gregory Thil.
