Loic Remy salvaged a point for Marseille on in the Ligue 1 season-opener at the Stade Velodrome.

Didier Deschamps' team led through Lucho Gonzalez's first-half effort - but goals from Marvin Martin and Vincent Nogueira threatened an upset until Remy struck.

The first chance of the game fell to Marseille in the third minute, with Sochaux goalkeeper Teddy Richert producing an excellent save to deny Remy, following good work by Lucho.

Midway through the half Remy fired narrowly wide after more good work by Lucho - and in the 32nd minute Richert blocked well from Andre Ayew as the home side continued to look the most likely to make the breakthrough.

Their pressure was rewarded eight minutes before the interval when Lucho fired powerfully into the roof of Richert's net, after being in the right place to capitalise when Lucho's shot was deflected into his path.

Three minutes into the second half Richert again needed to be at his best to deny Lucho, who had met Rod Fanni's cross with a powerful shot.

Marseille came close again in the 52nd minute when Morgan Amalfitano ended a mazy run with a powerful shot which skimmed the outside of a Sochaux post.

However, six minutes later Mehmed Bazdarevic's troops were unexpectedly level when the impressive Martin capitalised on slack marking to net at the far post, after good work down the left by Sebastien Corchia.

With 20 minutes remaining, Sochaux stunned the home support by taking a 2-1 lead, Ryad Boudebouz crossing superbly for Nogueira to beat Steve Mandanda in the Marseille goal with a powerful shot from the edge of the area.

However, Sochaux were unable to hold on for the victory, as in the 73rd minute Remy's powerful header from Mathieu Valbuena's corner from the left ensured a point apiece.
