Lyon hit the top of the first Ligue 1 table of the season with an impressive opening-day win at Nice.
They fell behind to an early Anthony Mounier goal, but quickly levelled through Lisandro Lopez, one of last season's stand-out performers.
Bafetimbi Gomis got them in front before the break and, after seeing off Nice's attempts at a comeback, Maxime Gonalons secured the win.
The three points looked unlikely to head to Lyon as Nice impressed early on, with Eric Mouloungui working Hugo Lloris in the Lyon goal.
They then took the lead, with Mounier slamming home after Cris and Dejan Lovren both failed to clear their lines following a corner.
But Lyon would not be behind for long, and scored themselves in the 10th minute, when Lisandro charged on to Anthony Reveillere's long ball and gave David Ospina no chance.
Lyon were on top now and Lisansdro brought an impressive save out of Ospina, while Lloris excelled at the other end as he kept out Mouloungui.
But Lyon took complete control of the game 12 minutes before the interval, with Gomis scoring a goal not to dissimilar to Mounier's.
Looking for the killer blow, Gomis fired just over after the half-time interval, before Lloris produced a wonder save to keep out Mouloungui after he had skipped his way through.
And, with Nice's resolve waning, Kim Kallstrom's free-kick found Lovren, his header worked Ospina and Gonalons cashed in on the loose ball to confirm the win.
