Toulouse secured their top-flight status with a home win over Bordeaux.

Mauro Cetto and Etienne Capoue scored either side of the break to earn the win which sealed their safety despite still only having a three-point lead over third-from-bottom Monaco.

Despite that Toulouse can not go down because Nice and Valenciennes, who are both behind them in the table, meet on the final day to ensure one of them must finish behind Alain Casanova's side.

After a quiet opening, Toulouse went ahead in the 27th minute.

Cetto was the scorer, scuffing the ball in from close range after Franck Tabanou had picked him out with a free-kick.

Bordeaux hit back and Jaroslav Plasil laid on a glorious chance for Ben Khalfallah when he stormed down the wing and crossed, only for the latter to miss the ball completely with the goal at his mercy.

Toulouse gave themselves a welcome cushion at the start of the second half, with Capoue putting them two goals ahead in the 55th minute.

Etienne Didot`s free-kick was swung to the far post and Capoue was on hand to head it in.

Moussa Sissoko then broke free with a chance of making it three for Toulouse but his effort was saved by Cedric Carrasso, with the keeper then doing well to palm away an Antoine Devaux strike.

Toulouse really should have been home and dry, with Cetto then being denied by Carrasso, but it did not matter as they held on.
