Lille sealed their first Ligue 1 crown since 1954 after picking up the point they needed away to Paris St Germain.
Needing just one point from their final two games to take the title from Marseille, Ludovic Obraniak gave the visitors an ideal start with the opening goal in the fifth minute.
Guillaume Hoarau levelled on the stroke of half-time, only to be sent off a minute into the second period, and Moussa Sow put Lille back in front.
Mathieu Bodmer brought PSG level for a second time, but Lille were already all but home and dry.
Indeed, even a defeat would have been enough with second-placed Marseille dropping points in a 2-2 draw with Valenciennes.
Lille got off to a flying start and Obraniak drilled the opening goal into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
At the other end, goalkeeper Mickael Landreau beat away an acrobatic effort from Hoarau following Ludovic Giuly's cross, while Giuly then fired a deflected effort against the bar.
The hosts were looking dangerous and Nene set up Siaka Tiene, who was denied by Landreau.
And the pressure told in first-time stoppage time as Nene took a quick free-kick and played in Hoarau, who shot home.
The striker's evening finished prematurely just a minute into the second half, though, when he was shown a second yellow card for diving.
And Lille took full advantage to go ahead in the 59th minute, Mathieu Debuchy crossing for Sow to apply a confident finish.
There was still life in PSG and, after Giuly's flick came back off a post, Bodmer crashed a shot into the roof of the net when one-on-one with Landreau.
But it could not take the shine off a night of celebration for Lille.
