Nene at the double for PSG |
 |
Nene scored the second of his brace eight minutes from full-time to earn in-form Paris St Germain a deserved win at Valenciennes.
Nene's 47th-minute strike had looked as though it would be enough to give the capital club victory until Vincent Aboubakar's neat turn-and-shot 10 minutes from the end levelled matters.
But Brazil-born midfielder Nene struck again two minutes later to seal the three points.
The goal had temporarily moved PSG top of the table before Tulio De Melo's late winner for Lille at Arles moved them back to the top with a one-point lead.
PSG, riding a six-match unbeaten run coming into the game, controlled the opening half but were denied the lead by the stellar goalkeeping of Nicolas Penneteau.
Penneteau was first called into action after eight minutes when some sloppy defending allowed Guillaume Hoarau to get in a shot that was beaten away.
Nene was also denied by a fine stop before his free-kick was headed over by Zoumana Camara.
The away side got the goal they deserved two minutes after the interval through the influential Nene.
Nene initially opened up the defence with a back-heeled pass for Hoarau who then slid the ball back for his team-mate to thrash in a shot that beat both Penneteau and defender Milan Bisevac.
VA almost stole a goal back immediately when Apoula Edel blocked well to deny Gael Danic before Penneteau kept his side in touch with saves from Bodmar and Melvut Erding.
The home keeper saved his best stop for the 71st minute when Stephane Sessegnon played a one-two with Ceara before rifling a shot from the edge of the area that Penneteau kept out despite being wrong-footed.
And it looked as though his heroics may earn VA a point when substitute Aboubakar equalised with his first Ligue 1 goal after 80 minutes.
Aboubakar controlled a cross before his quick turn-and-shot left across goal left Edel with no chance.
PSG's frustrations lasted just two minutes though as Nene pounced on a poor pass from the home defence before curling a splendid shot into the top corner.
