PSG move ahead of Brest |
|
Paris St Germain leapfrogged Brest to go second in Ligue 1 as they followed their Europa League win over Sevilla with another confident display at the Parc des Princes.
Brazilian midfielder Nene opened the scoring for Antoine Kombouare's side in the first half before Nolan Roux levelled for the visitors.
But further goals from Mathieu Bodmer and Ludovic Giuly sealed three points that put PSG within a point of leaders Lille.
This defeat sees Brest drop to sixth but they are still only three points off the top.
Brest survived an early scare as Bodmer's header from a Nene corner came back off the post in the third minute.
But it proved to be a brief reprieve as a minute later a poor clearance fell to Nene, who produced a stunning volley that left Steeve Elana in the Brest goal with no chance.
Guillaume Hoarau headed inches wide as the hosts continued to dominate and Elana had to be at full stretch to deny another fantastic Nene strike.
Elana saved from Clement Chantome shortly after the interval before the visitors stunned PSG by equalising against the run of play.
Roux was picked out by a ball back across the box and he kept his composure to volley home in the 54th minute.
But they were only level for three minutes as the Parisians hit back almost immediately.
Giuly made an overlapping run down the right and Bodmer timed his run to meet his ball across the box and fire home.
Former Barcelona midfielder Giuly then fired over the bar but made amends after 77 minutes when Hoarau's cushioned header set him up to seal the points.
