Lyon with a victory over Lens 3-1 |
|
Lyon scored three second-half goals to come from behind and beat Lens 3-1.
Kanga Akale had given Lens the lead on the counter-attack, but Lyon turned things around after the break to pick up their sixth win of the season.
Bafetimbi Gomis scored twice inside 10 minutes to put them in front before Lisandro Lopez rounded things off late on.
Lens had the first chance of the game, with Sebastien Roudet taking advantage of some sloppy play in the Lyon defence to close in on goal, but he was unable to beat Hugo Lloris, despite appealing to have been impeded by the goalkeeper.
The opening goal came after 24 minutes, with Gomis being robbed of possession by Roudet, who broke and played in Akale to score.
Lyon had a chance to draw level before the break, but Jean de Makoun's close-range finish was chalked off by the referee for a push in the build-up.
The visitors stepped up their game after the break and Makoun squared for Gomis, whose volley was blocked by Vedran Runje.
Lopez then saw a volley saved by Runje as Lyon, buoyed by the introduction of Lopez and Yoann Gourcuff, controlled the play.
It was no surprise when they scored either, with Gomis volleying home after he had been freed in the area by Makoun.
That goal came on 64 minutes and just four minutes later a Dejan Lovren header hit the post as Lyon pressed.
The second goal came on 73 minutes, with Gourcuff breaking clear and playing in the unmarked Gomis.
Lens were stunned by Lyon's response and the win was duly wrapped up with a minute to go, with Gomis setting Makoun free and his flick being volleyed home by Lopez.
