PSG with a win over Toulouse |
 |
Paris St Germain's clinical finishing proved the difference in a tightly contested game as they moved third in Ligue 1.
Defender Mamadou Sakho scored a 10th-minute opener and Mevlut Erding made the game safe 10 minutes after half-time.
But PSG were grateful to keeper Apoula Edel, who made a number of fine saves to preserve his record of not having conceded a goal this season.
The Armenia international was called into action in the fifth minute when he saved Paulo Machado's effort at the second attempt.
And he was rewarded when Nene's free-kick was not cleared and Ludovic Giuly's shot was turned in from close range by Sakho.
Giuly had the chance to double the lead when he met Nene's cross with a volley but keeper Mathieu Valverde saved and held the ball.
Daniel Braaten went close to an equaliser before the break but his effort from Franck Tabanou's cross was deflected behind by Sakho.
Edel saved at full stretch from Toulouse full-back Adrian Gunino before Erding made it 2-0 with his first goal since the opening game of the Ligue 1 season.
Nene backheeled to Giuly, whose flick-on was turned home from close range by the Turkey striker.
Giuly was denied by Valverde after a flowing move involving the impressive Nene, Guillaume Hoarau and Erding before Machado had two chances to cut the deficit in the closing stages.
First Fode Mansare crossed for the Portuguese midfielder to head weakly straight at Edel and then the Cameroon-born custodian was tested more severely by Machado's free-kick, which he had to dive full-length to palm away left-handed.
