PSG too hot for Arles |
|
Paris St Germain playmaker Nene proved too hot for Ligue 1 new boys Arles in a one-sided encounter at Parc des Princes.
Nene played a role in first-half strikes by Guillaume Hoarau and Mamadou Sakho before the Brazilian bagged two goals after the break to ensure an emphatic win for Antoine Kombouare's men.
PSG's second win of the season leaves the capital club safely inside the top 10 after five games, while top-flight life is not getting any easier for Arles and they remain winless - and pointless - at the bottom of the pile.
The hosts were in the ascendancy from the kick-off and carved out early chances through Clement Chantome and Hoarau before making the breakthrough after 18 minutes.
Christophe Jallet released Nene on the right and the Brazilian's cross was flicked on by Ludovic Giuly for Hoarau, who showed good technique to volley home.
Arles goalkeeper Vincent Plante had to be on his toes to deny Hoarau a second just two minutes later with a reflex stop.
But the visiting custodian had no answer on 28 minutes when Nene's corner picked out Sakho at the far post and the defender fired home confidently.
A third goal arrived for PSG four minutes into the second period, Nene getting his reward for his first-half enterprise with a stunning trademark free-kick from the edge of the area which left Plante motionless.
And Nene capped a fine personal performance with his second of the night after 56 minutes, the midfielder combining well with Hoarau and Mevlut Erding before curling a superbly-placed shot around the beleaguered Plante.
Giuly, Hoarau and Mateja Kezman all spurned further openings as Arles' backline gave up the fight, but the margin of victory was nevertheless sufficient to underline the gulf in class between the two sides.
