Ciani heads Bordeaux to victory |
 |
Michael Ciani headed a winner four minutes into stoppage time to earn Bordeaux their first points of the season at Paris St Germain tonight.
The hosts dominated the first hour, only a combination of poor finishing and fine goalkeeping from Cedric Carrasso keeping the scores level, but Alou Diarra gave Bordeaux a 67th-minute lead against the run of play.
Guillaume Hoarau levelled in the 76th minute, but the capital club could not hold on.
Bordeaux went into the game having lost their first two games of the Ligue 1 season, hardly the sort of start to his reign Jean Tigana would have been hoping for, and a third looked on the cards as PSG carved out chance after chance in the first half.
Carrasso blocked Hoarau's diving header before Stephane Sessegnon somehow contrived to head a close-range chance wide after Nene's free-kick had picked him out at the first post.
Carrasso was called into action to keep out another Nene free-kick before Mevlut Erding was guilty of an astonishing miss, rounding the keeper but shooting wide of the open goal 10 minutes before the break.
Erding had a chance to redeem himself on the stroke of half-time but his excellent header was brilliantly saved by the fingertips of Carrasso.
Erding had a third chance seven minutes after the break but Carrasso parried his left-footed shot.
Instead, having been on the back foot for the whole match, the visitors went ahead with their first chance of the night.
Jaroslav Plasil's corner found Diarra at the far post and the France midfielder sent a header back across goal into the top corner.
Hoarau levelled nine minutes later, rounding off a neat team move after Nene had released Ludovic Giuly down the left to flick the ball into the striker.
But PSG were undone at the death by another set-piece as Ciani powerfully headed home from Yoann Gourcuff's corner.
