Bordeaux maintained their hopes of competing in next season's Europa League with victory over Sochaux at the Stade Chaban Delmas.
Second half goals from Wendel (penalty) and Benoit Tremoulinas gave Laurent Blanc's team only a third win in 11 Ligue 1 games.
The visitors started the stronger, with left-back Yassin Mikari forcing Les Girondins goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso into a great save to deny him a fourth-minute breakthrough from a free-kick.
Seven minutes later and Sochaux again threatened when Ideye Brown tried his luck from the right side of the penalty area - and was only inches wide.
Bordeaux were struggling for inspiration and their only chance of note in the first half came seven minutes before the break when Marouane Chamakh, strongly linked with a move to Arsenal, headed Gregory Sertic's free-kick wide.
However, the visitors were brighter after the break and they broke the deadlock in the 65th minute when Wendel calmly sent Mathieu Dreyer the wrong way from the spot, after being fouled by the Sochaux goalkeeper.
The goal gave the hosts confidence and three minutes later Dreyer needed to be at his best to deny Chamakh.
Sochaux had a great chance to level seven minutes from time when Ideye found himself one-on-one with Carrasso - but the goalkeeper did well to block the Nigerian striker's effort.
And the points were made safe in the 85th minute in impressive fashion when Tremoulinas' powerful shot from outside the box went in off the crossbar.
