Lille moved up to second place in the Ligue 1 table as goals from Yohan Cabaye and Ludovic Obraniak saw them to a comfortable victory at Toulouse.
Rudi Garcia's side had to overcome a difficult start in the south-west but eventually prevailed to move above Auxerre, who lost 2-1 to Lyon, on goal difference.
The home side had made a purposeful start at Stadium Municipal with Fode Mansare firing in a free-kick which Mickael Landreau did well to hold on to.
Colin Kazim-Richards then released Moussa Sissoko and the midfielder burst into the box and got away a powerful right-footed shot which Landreau saved.
Adil Rami responded for Lille with a run down the flank before angling a drive across goal, with Toulouse keeper Yohann Pel making a decent save.
And the visitors then took the lead in the 34th minute as Obraniak's overlapping run saw him find space on the right and get in a cross. Toulouse defender Etienne Capoue's headed clearance only went as far as Cabaye who stroked the ball home right-footed.
Cabaye then came close to doubling the lead as his curling free-kick was punched away with both fists by Pel.
The visitors went further ahead shortly after the break as Obraniak counter-attacked and found Gervinho, the midfielder's pass freed Tulio De Melo on the left and his flick returned the ball for Obraniak to smash home a stunning volley that left Pel with no chance.
The chances continued to come for the visitors as Pel again punched away a Cabaye free-kick and Rami curled the ball inches over the bar from another set-piece.
And Pel made yet another save in the final minute as he pushed away Pierre-Alain Frau's volley.
