Marseille with a 2-1 victory at Boulogne |
|
Marseille maintained their five-point lead at the top of Ligue 1 thanks to a controversial last-gasp penalty against Boulogne.
Mathieu Valbuena gave Marseille the lead shortly before half-time, only for Jeremy Blayac to equalise for the home side nine minutes from time.
However, the visitors snatched the win in the dying seconds of injury time when Taye Taiwo blasted home a penalty given against Yoann Lachor for handball.
Marseille had the better of the opening half and came close to taking the lead after 27 minutes when Valbuena collected Mamadou Niang's flick on the edge of the area and fired in a shot which struck the post.
Boulogne hit back five minutes later when Laurent Agouazzi's header from Guillaume Ducatel's corner brought a good save from Steve Mandanda.
Marseille then broke the deadlock two minutes from the interval when Niang again found Valbuena and this time the striker beat Jean-Francois Bedenik from close range.
Didier Deschamps' side went in search of a vital second goal after the break and Bedenik had to save Brandao's deflected header from Lucho's free-kick.
Brandao then sprung the offside trap but could not beat Bedenik and Marseille looked like being made to pay for their missed chances when Blayac equalised on 81 minutes after a corner was not properly cleared.
However, Marseille grabbed a controversial winner deep in stoppage time when Lachor was penalised for handball, much to the fury of Boulogne's players, and Taiwo stepped up to hammer home the spot-kick.
