PSG earned a great 3-1 win over Le Mans |

PSG earned a great 3-1 win over Le Mans in their first home outing at the Parc des Princes this season. Trailing early on, the Parisians came back and then marched away with the match.
All the ingredients were present for a great night of football. The sun, a packed stadium and a first game at the Parc for the new season. All that was missing was a win for Antoine Kombouaré’s side to add the finishing touch!
“The new PSG is here!” That was surely the word on the lips of the PSG fans at the final whistle. Yet despite a good start which saw Sessegnon twice through one-on-one with the visiting ‘keeper (2’, 14’), PSG got caught out by a long Roche clearance. Helstad was through against Coupet and he fired in off the woodwork (0-1, 21’).
Stunned, the Parisians responded ten minutes later through Erding who headed just over (34’), before he found the back of the net. The Turkey international beat his two markers before firing past Roche with a angled left-foot finish (1-1, 35’). PSG went on with it, too! Luyindula (39’) and then Giuly (42’) both going close.
In the second half, the hosts vainly tried to move into the lead, but in the end it was a Le Mans player, Thomas, who turned a Sessegnon free-kick into his own net (2-1, 60’)! Les Manceaux looked to fight back and had their chances, firstly through Coutadeur (64’), then Maïga (65’) and finally Lamah (79’). Coupet imposed on each occasion.
That’s when Ludovic Giuly chose to strike. Set free by Kezman, the former Barcelona ace beat Roche with a low finish (3-1, 81’)! It extinguished Le Mans’ hopes of finding a way back into the game. Then crowd chanted the names of their heroes: Erding and Giuly first and foremost. The Turkey ace scoring in his Parc des Princes debut, just like Hoarau and Pauleta had done before him. It bodes well…
