Betting and The Premier League
The Premier League is the most popular sports league in the world, and as such attracts a lot of interest from punters wanting to have a flutter on their favourite team on bookmakers and online, at sites such as Betrescue.com. However, there are many different types of football bets and there is a little more to it than just betting on a team to win.
The most popular type of football bet is on the match result, or on the 90 minute result. This is also known as a Win, Lose or Draw (WLD) or "1x2", which is the pool notation for home win, draw and away win.
The idea of a WLD bet is to predict what the result will be at the end of the game - a win for one team, a win for the other team or a draw. One thing to note when placing football bets is that most bets are based on what happens in normal time and not extra or injury time.
You can also have a football accumulator which puts several matches together in one bet. The idea is the winning return plus the stake is carried forward as the stake for the next bet and so on. However, for an accumulator to be successful all the events bet on have to win. A double accumulator would include two bets, a treble three and a yankee would be placed on four events.
The yankee is probably one of the most popular bets placed in the build up to the football season. It is a bet containing four selections and is made up of 11 different bets, these include six doubles, four trebles and an accumulator. If two of your selections win, you are guaranteed a return and if all four win you could be due a big windfall.
Punters can also bet on the number of goals scored in a match, or under/over as it is known. Typically this means betting on whether there will be more or less than the number of goals quoted. Normally the bet is more or less than 2.5 goals but there are other options.
There is also the option to bet on the score at the end of normal time, or correct score betting, with scores often quoted as “Home Team Score - Away Team Score”. However, most bookmakers don't tend to offer great odds on this type of bet so it's more for fun than the chance to win big.In addition to these there are number of bets available including half time/full time which is also known as "double result"; this is a bet on predicting the result at half time and full time in the same bet. The first goal scorer is simply a bet on who will score the first goal. |
